MUMBAI – TBILISI (BY AIR)
Departure to Tbilisi by Air. On arrival complete immigration procedures and proceed for lunch in local restaurant. After lunch check in to the hotel and after some rest and fresh up visit The Chronicles of Georgia, it’s a monument located on the bank of the Tbilisi Sea. It was created by sculptor Zurab Tsereteli in 1985 but was never fully finished. It is overlooking the northern part of the city from different directions. There are 16 pillars that are between 30–35 meters tall and the top half features kings, queens, and heroes while the bottom part depicts stories from the life of Christ. Later visit to Sameba Cathedral also known as The Holy Trinity Cathedral of Tbilisi. It’s a main cathedral of the Georgian Orthodox Church. It is the third–tallest Eastern Orthodox cathedral in the world and one of the largest religious buildings in the world by total area. After dinner in the local restaurant return to hotel. TBILISI CITY TOUR
After breakfast, we are visiting the beautiful and lively capital of Georgia, Tbilisi. Our city tour starts at the Metekhi Church, from where we can enjoy a panoramic view of the entire old town. The colorful wooden balconies, fascinating architecture, and the blend of modern culture create an extraordinary impression. Later we will explore several historical and modern landmarks, such as the Sioni Cathedral, Anchiskhati Church, Kararan Saray, Synagogue, Peace Bridge, Marionette Theater, and much more. TBILISI – MTSKHETA – GERGETY TRINITY CHURCH – GUDAURI (210 KMS)
After breakfast, we embark on a fascinating journey to Mtskheta, the ancient capital of Georgia. In this historically significant city. On arrival we will visit the Jvari Monastery from the 6th century on top of the hill. From this place we will have breathtaking panoramic view of the picturesque Mtskheta City nestled between the rivers Mtkvari and Aragvi. Later we will visit Mtskheta city, the entire city, along with the 11th century Svetitskhoveli Cathedral are UNESCO World Heritage site in 1994 and is considered a living city–museum. Later we will continue our journey along Georgia’s old so–called Military Road, heading towards Stepantsminda on stunning & breathtaking mountain passes route. Lunch at local restaurant. After lunch we are driving off–road vehicles from Stepantsminda to the Gergeti Trinity Church (15 min one way). From the church we can admire the majestic 16500 feet high Mount Kazbek mountain range, known as the “White Pearl of the Caucasus. Proceed our journey towards Gudauri at the altitude on 7000 feet. GUDAURI – GORI – UPLISTSIKHE CAVE TOWN – TBILISI (240 KMS)
After breakfast, Proceed to Gori. In Gori, in the birth town of Stalin, Photo–stop at his Museum. Today, we are visiting the fascinating ancient cave city of Uplistsikhe. Uplistsikhe, translated as the “Fortress of the Lord,” is an impressive archaeological gem carved into the soft rock of the Kura River Gorge in Georgia. This unique rock city is a living testament to ancient Georgian culture. Strategically located on the Silk Road, Uplistsikhe served as an important center for trade and culture. During its heyday, it was a flourishing hub of religious, cultural, and political life. TBILISI – HAGHPAT MONASTERY – DILIJAN – SEVAN LAKE – YEREVAN (310 KMS)
After breakfast departure to the Sadakhlo Border of Georgia & Armenia, on arrival complete the immigration process and proceed to Haghpat Monastery, It’s a medieval Armenian monastery complex built between the 10th and 13th century. Head to Dilijan to enjoy its natural and architectural monuments of antiquity, the mountains and the forests that surround you at any point in the city.
After lunch at the local restaurant proceed to Sevanavank Monastery through a scenic drive along the pearl of Armenia, Lake Sevan. This 8th century monastery situated on the bank of beautiful Lake Sevan. From the monastery you will get spectacular view of Lake and surrounding region. On arrival check in to the hotel. YEREVAN – GARNI TEMPLE – GEGHARD MONASTERY – YEREVAN (90 KMS TO & FRO)
After breakfast proceed toward Garni village, on the way we will have small break at The Arch of Charents, this place where you can admire a the most beautiful view of Ararat Mountain. This monument is dedicated to the famous poet Yeghishe Charents. Later proceed to Garni, it is famous for its Hellenistic pagan temple of the 1st century. There is only pagan temple that survived after the Christianization of Armenia. The place is particularly famous for its nice landscapes and the extraordinary view opening to the gorge and surrounding mountains. Descend the Azat River Gorge where the “Symphony of Stones” or “Basalt Organ” seats. Those basalt columns were formed as a result of slow–moving lava. Lunch at the Local Restaurant. Later proceed to visit 4th century Geghard Monastery and an UNESCO World Heritage site. It contains a number of churches and tombs, most of them cut into the rock, which illustrate the very peak of Armenian medieval architecture. The complex is surrounded by towering cliffs at the entrance to the Azat Valley. Return to the hotel and after fresh up enjoy some local souvenir shopping in Yerevan most famous Vernissage Market.
